The Village of Oblong Board of Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016, in the Farley Room of the Municipal Building.

Members Present: Mayor Randy Rich, Clerk Ladora Boyd, Trustee Rick Catt, Trustee Dave Hasty, Trustee Jay Haines, Trustee Ken Russell, Trustee Teresa Fielder, Trustee Debi Wilson and Treasurer/Deputy Clerk Jan Miller.
Others Present: Public Works Superintendent Gary Lanter, Chris Dewitt (WTYE/WTAY), Tom Compton (Daily News), Nick Hinterscher and Alex Pleasant (Crawford County Development Association).

The meeting was called to order at 7 pm by Mayor Rich; with everyone standing and saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Regular Board Meeting Minutes of October 5th, 2016, were approved with a motion by Debi and a second by Teresa. All ayes, motion carried.

There were no additions or deletions to the agenda this month.

There were no Delinquent Water Bill customers at this month’s meeting.

Nick Hinterscher came before the Board to ask permission to stay open an extra hour on November 23rd (Wednesday before Thanksgiving). Randy stated that he had talked with Chad and that Chad stated that he did not have any problems with the request. The Board granted his request.

Randy stated that the VFW would like to use the 4-way stop on November 5th from 8 am to Noon (12 pm) for Poppy Day. The Board granted the request.

Motion by Rick, with a second by Debi, to accept (stay) with the Village’s current Liability/Property/Workers’ Comp Insurance companies (HCC & IPRF) at a total bid of $31,705. Roll Call vote: Rick-aye, Dave-aye, Jay-aye, Ken-aye, Teresa-Nay, Debi-aye. Motion carried.

Mayor’s Comments:
Randy wanted to thank everyone involved with the planning of the 50th Fall Follies participation and support of the Follies. He also stated that it was a perfect day for the Follies.

Reports of Committees:
Police: Teresa stated that Chad has a Narcan training on November 16th and Safe Schools training on November 29th both are in Noble, Illinois.

Building and Park: Debi stated that the Committee met on October 21st. The camping issue was resolved. Debi stated that there are some people interested in putting up lights at the Pickleball Court, so it can be used after dark. Debi stated that if the Fair Board gets the grants to pay for having sewer hook-ups for campers at the campground it will not be until spring for the work (if the Village is okay with supplying the labor).

Sidewalks and Lights: Dave stated that the sidewalk projects for this fiscal year are finished and came in under budget.

Street and Alley: Jay thanked the guys for the clean-up/sweeping of the streets for Fall Follies and after the Halloween Parade.

Water and Sewer: Ken stated that he had nothing to report this month.

Finance: Rick stated that he had nothing else to report this month.

Motion by Jay, with a second by Ken, to pay the bills that were on the warranty list and any utility bills, bills that will incur a late charge or reimbursements to employees. All ayes, motion carried.

There were no other items of business this month

Motion by Rick, with a second by Teresa, to adjourn the meeting at 7:18 pm. All ayes, motion carried.
