Oblong Park has many things to offer for visitors and community members alike.

* Several Picnic Areas

* 18 hole Disc Golf Course
* Pickle Ball Court
* A walking path around the lake

* Canoeing and Kayaking on the lake
* Camping
* A beautiful memorial area with tribute to many donors of the Lake Restoration
The Oblong Park has 3 Shelters available to reserve for $10.00 per day.
Rental of shelters for commercial use is strongly discouraged.
The Jay Cee Shelter which is close to the Playgrounds.
The Musgrave Shelter which is on the east side of the park behind the Bandstand.
The Collings Shelter which is located on the north side of the Lake near a Restroom.

Oblong Park & Playground Rules
- Park is open from 6:00AM to 10:30PM
- For Shelter reservations call 618-592-3122.
- Small children must be accompanied by an adult.
- The use of Alcoholic Beverages is not allowed in the Park.
- No Swimming in the lake.
- Pets must be on a leash unless in the designated “Dog Park”. You are expected to pick up any waste that your pet leaves behind. Aggressive pets are not welcome.
- Fires are only allowed in designated areas. Don not burn trash in fire rings or grills.
- Absolutely no Golf Carts, Side x Sides or any motorized vehicles including battery powered bikes or scooters are allowed on the walking path or in any grassy area. These vehicles must stay on the streets and in parking areas.
- Bicycles, Skateboarders and etc., must give pedestrians the right of way on the walking path.
- Disc Golfers must give the right of way to all pedestrians, picnickers and etc.
- Follow all Illinois Department of Conservation rules for fishing and watercraft use. Only non-motorized watercraft are allowed on the lake. Absolutely no fish are to be brought in and turned loose in the lake.
- Use only the playground equipment that is designed for your size, weight and age.
- Do not move picnic tables or benches.
- Please do not litter. Pick up your trash and deposit in available containers.
- No Camping in playground or picnic areas. For rules concerning camping, refer to Campground Rules”. Absolutely no “Public Camping” that is declared a nuisance by Village ordinance # 2024-0-652
- Use of large inflatable toys or trampolines for corporate parties require a permit which is available at the Village Clerks office.
- Additional landscaping or planting of any kind must be approved.
Rules for Non-Motorized Water Craft
Only non-motorized watercraft will be allowed on Oblong Lake. This will include Canoe’s, Kayak’s, Paddle Boards, Peddle Boats, Rafts and Jon Boats less than 10 feet in length. Absolutely no inflatables will be allowed.
- There is no life guard on duty. Anyone using any watercraft at this lake will be at your own risk.
- Boating will only be allowed between 7:00 AM and dusk
- All watercraft must enter and exit the water at the designated landing area only.
- All watercraft must be carried to the lake. Absolutely no trailers will be allowed beyond the parking area.
- All Illinois Department of Natural Resources rules must be followed at all times.
- Anyone operating or riding in any non-motorized watercraft must have a personal floatation device (Life Vest) in the unit. Anyone under 13 years of age must wear a PFD at all times and be accompanied by an adult. Anyone using a Paddle Board must wear a PFD at all times.
- All watercraft will keep a distance of at least 20 feet from any fountain or structure on the lake and at least 20 ft. from the water’s edge except at the designated landing area.
- ABSOLUTELY NO SWIMMING AT ANY TIME.
