Paula Myers
Public WorksPaula has held this part-time position for over 23 years. She maintains the landscaping at the park and lake and several other areas around town. She also maintains the picnic shelters and restrooms at the park, as well as filling in for the custodian at the municipal building, and helps out with other special projects within the department.
Dale Davis
Public WorksDale has been employed by the Village of Oblong for over 31 years. As Office Manager, she handles a multitude of tasks including Water and Sewer billing and record keeping and handling customer requests and complaints. She also assists the superintendent with many clerical responsibilities.
Terry Manhart
Public WorksTerry came to the Village with over 10 years’ experience in Facilities Maintenance. He has been the Custodian/Grounds Keeper for over 2 years. His responsibilities include the custodial and maintenance work at the Municipal Building, grounds keeping at all the Village owned property and he also assists as a Utility Technician with special projects as needed. Terry can also be found from time to time helping out in the office when needed.
Jason Garrard
Public WorksJason has been employed by the Village of Oblong for 32 years. He is the primary water meter reader for the department. His responsibilities include the maintenance of meters and the interface of the reading/billing software programs. He assists as a Utility Technician, fills in at the office when needed and assists in all aspects of maintenance for the Village.
Travis Smith
Public WorksTravis has been employed by the Village of Oblong for over 29 years. He has an IEPA class D Water Supply Operator certification and an IEPA Wastewater Collection System Operator certification. Aside from foreman of the Utility Technician crew and filling in when the superintendent is away, his responsibilities include maintenance of equipment being the main equipment operator.
Gary Lanter
Public WorksGary has been employed by the Village of Oblong for over 42 years, the last 29 as superintendent. He has an IEPA class D Water Supply Operator certification, an IEPA class 4 Wastewater Operator certification and has logged many hours of continuing education. He is responsible for regulatory compliance as well as managing all aspects of the department. He also spends as much time as possible working with the crew on various projects.
